Apprentice of the Year - Madison Candy

Madison completed her apprenticeship in Aero-Skills whilst working at Jetstar Airways. Her progression through her apprenticeship was at an incredible pace and she early on gained a reputation as knowledgeable and respected team member.

Madison was awarded the Jetstar 1st year encouragement awards and was their apprentice of the year in her 2nd year competing against all apprentices. She is an active member of their apprenticeship committee and regularly attends Career days and information sessions for students and emphasises to young female students the benefits of Vocational Training.

Overall Trainee of the Year - Jarna Hedley

Jarna completed her traineeship in Business Services.

Previous experience in Child Care and her families engineering business proved to be the perfect foundation to undertake the traineeship. Her leadership role and initiative soon had her excelling in all of her training and work tasks. She was able to introduce some new work practices into the office and her work continually was of the highest standard.

Jarna has been instrumental in a number of critical activities within the business and the successful outcomes would not have been achieved without her complete dedication to her role.

She has become an integral part of the business and is attending further studies to help her progress in her career.

Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander Student Of The Year - Raymond Steadman

Raymond a proud member of Worimi community and he proudly represents his community when he plays the Didgeridoo.

He completed the Early Childhood Diploma whilst working at the Awabakal Preschool. He particularly enjoys working with young aboriginal children and telling stories relating to their culture.

An accomplished representative sportsman across several sports he has aspirations of becoming an aboriginal Health Practitioner.

School Based Apprentice/Trainee Of The Year - Hannah Gunton

Hannah attended Bishop Tyrell Anglican College and commenced her Certificate 2 traineeship in Kitchen Operations at the Beach’s Hotel in Merewether.

Highlights of her traineeship included the opportunity to organise and run formal functions such as the 2019 and 2020 Showcase dinners and the Australian Business weekend luncheon.
Hannah was also the first runner up in the Tyndale interschool hospitality competition signature dish. She was keen to explain the benefits of completing her HSC and traineeship at the same time.

VET In School Student Of The Year 2020 -
Daniel Hunt

Daniel a student of the Hunter Trade College completed his certificate 2 in Technical Support.

He attended the Hunter Trade College specifically to gain his HSC and get a head start on his career.

His aim is to use this certificate to pursue a career in the Electrical field. To this end he has gained an apprenticeship in Electro technology, Daniel attributes his success to the hard work he applied during his course.

He has displayed a natural aptitude to the trade and is often seen assisting the other students in the class.

Vocational Student Of The Year 2020 - Billy McLoughlin

Billy successfully completed the Certificate 4 in Tertiary Preparation at TAFE NSW Tighes Hill Campus.

His results of equal first in English and History gaining 100% in both. And averaging in the 90% for the rest of his subjects.

He is already achieving work that post graduates students are expected to achieve.

He has a passion for Music and Drama and is working as a teacher for young students at his local drama theatre. Having had several setbacks whilst attending High school his achievements are remarkable.

Women in Non-Traditional Trade Award 2020-
Katherine Jones

Katherine a graduate of Engineering Certificate 3 as shown that she is a driven individual that’s shows leadership in a male dominated field.

She demonstrated these leadership qualities by volunteering for projects and leading by example. She received one of the highest marks ever in one of the method of testing units.

She won the Trainee of the year at HunterNet Group Training. Her strength in the workplace is her positive attitude, ambitious nature and her eagerness to learn.
